This place is incompetent. I've been wondering why the hospital in Lacey sent my mother there for recovery in the first place. I've been trying to get her transferred to Providence in Lacey so she's closer, they are expecting her referral and have been for the last 2 weeks. I've received nothing but excuses and lies.
My daughter spent 60 days in Kindred, moving from the CCU at Evergreen to ICU at Kindred and then to regular hospital room at Kindred. She underwent respiratory, speech, occupational and physical therapy, while her critical medical needs were met. During her time there, she progressed from critical condition to acute to stable condition with a path forward and was just released to a skilled nursing facility for further physical rehabilitation - a step down in care needs a...nd a step forward in her life. Kindred Hospital is a small facility of about 50 patients and has a comfortable, professional, feel to it, not overwhelming. The entire team showed their concern for my daughter. We got to know the team and to see how much they were genuinely caring and committed to their patients: from Admir and Laura at the front desk, to Shellie, Suzanne in administration, to our Case Manager Dorothy, to the medical team Drs. Matthews, Martin, and Aliraba and ARNP Renee, all of whom coordinated life-giving care. The therapy team (Thomasa, Brian, Brian - you know who you are - Alisha, Chuck, Debbie (radiology), Kathy and others) and the nursing team, too numerous to mention, including supervisor Pauline, and Margaret, Jenn, Liane, Lan, Casey, Ahmed, Charisse, and so many others. I have left out some wonderful people I know, but my heart is full and my memory failing. Thank you all for your loving, life-saving, and life-enhancing work. You are appreciated. I entrusted my daughter to Kindred and, in the end, she was helped down the path towards a hopeful recovery. We actually felt sad to leave. My daughter on leaving said she felt "comfortable" ("sort of") there. Others may have other experiences, but we found love and healing here. I would not hesitate to recommend Kindred as an acute care transitional facility for a loved one. Thank you for your excellent work and your commitment to my daughter - and your many small kindnesses. They are deeply appreciated. Let's just say it: you rock!!
3rd floor staff are always so up beat and happy same with the night shift. Was transferred there from another facility to do my rehab after being in ICU. Has to be the best stay in a hospital yet

My mother was at Kindred First Hill for over a month until she finally passed away. She started in acute care and then transferred to the ICU. Everyone there was so caring and kind--especially in the end when my mother and family needed it most. Thank you to all who took care of her. A big thank you to Dr. Matthews and all of her nurses including David, Katie, and Almaz.
